Here is Lesley & Jason’s Wedding Story as told by Lesley!

Our story begins in 2009, we met on an online dating website (it can truly happen!). We dated for 2 years before Jay proposed in May of 2011 on our group trip to Las Vegas in front of the Mirage Hotel. I was overcome with excitement and happiness. Let the planning begin…!

We decided that since we were going to be paying for our own wedding we didn’t want an elaborate shindig; we wanted to keep it simple and we wanted more than just one night of fun with family and friends so we decided that a destination wedding was the way to go! We decided on the Grand Bahia Principe Coba in the Maya Riviera for our wedding on Nov 8 2012. We factored the cost for our guests in this decision as we wanted all our family and closest friends to share in our special day. The hotel is very big and divided into three sections. All our 48 guests had a fantastic time, the food was great and the drinks were flowing all week long!

We also decided that we wanted to bring our own photographer to capture all our fun and quirky moments of the week and our wedding day. I contacted a few places but none of them were right, so I asked our travel agent Dawn (Destination Weddings by Dawn) if she knew of any photographers. WELL, she referred us to Michelle (Captured Soul Photography) and once we met with Michelle we knew right away we wanted her to photograph our wedding!  She had the experience and knowledge that we were looking for. I can’t put into words the memories that she has given us; she was amazing help and an extraordinary photographer!

We met our wedding coordinator Maria the day after we arrived for a couple of hours to finalize all the details that we had agreed too. She was amazing and she came through on every last detail that I had requested. I had nothing to worry to about.

My mom purchased my dress at (Valentina Bridal & Couture, Waterloo, Ont), the girls dresses (Davids Bridal, Mississauga, Ont) and the guys attire (Tristan, Square One), we wanted everyone to look gorgeous, but also be comfortable that day. My shoes were from Nine West and served as my pop of colour keeping with my colour theme .

We chose to have our ceremony at the Tulum section of the resort in the Gazebo overlooking the ocean.  It was AMAZING! A trolley took all our guests over (5 min ride) and the girls, my mom and I were also brought over by a trolley a bit later. The ceremony was about 20mins, short and sweet. We were so happy to be surrounded by our wonderful family and close friends.  It was truly unforgettable.

We took our pictures on the beach right after the ceremony, before we were carted off to our dinner location at the Meditteraneo Restaurant (The Italian a la carte: Porofino, was my first choice but it unfortunately was closed that day).  They gave us the Italian set menu though, and it was delicious. We had a private cocktail reception outdoors alongside the El Arrecife Pool, where we had our first dance and a few emotional speeches. We danced the night away, before moving on to the disco.

This is a day/week that Jay and I will cherish forever; I married my soul mate and best friend.

And if you ever doubted it, let me just say: “Good Things Truly Come to Those Who Wait”
