Here is Kelly & Michael’s Wedding Story as told by Kelly!

My husband Mike and I met at the local bar when we had both just turned 19. He pretended to be my boyfriend to save me from some creepy guy trying to pick me up. He added me to ICQ – yes, we met THAT long ago – and the rest is history. Our story is not overly exciting or remarkable but it is ours!

We have been together over ten years and have watched eachother mature and grow into adulthood. I can’t imagine a better match for me. We still get along so well and laugh together all the time. It took him seven years to propose but it was worth the wait!

We knew we wanted to have a destination wedding right away and I am so happy we did! The planning process wasn’t difficult for us. We picked the resort ourselves – Ocean Blue and Sand in Punta Cana. We wanted an English speaking minister and I had read a lot of great things about Pastor Rick York who works in Punta Cana. He turned out to be exactly what we wanted and the ceremony he performed was beautiful (ryork@claro.net.do). We used the DJ at the resort because it cost extra to hire your own. The music turned out to be great after some difficulty with a language barrier at the start. The resort also provided the flowers and other small details as per their pre-set packages. We purchased starfish bottle openers and personalized travel cards from ebay for guest favours. We also bought a wedding bobble head from Black’s which was really fun/cute! I made my own bridesmaid bouquets with ribbon and flowers from Michael’s – very fun and inexpensive!

The most important detail for us was the photos and I couldn’t be happier about how they turned out – thanks Michelle and Captured Soul for providing us with memories to last a lifetime. I highly recommend that everyone does a “trash the dress” photoshoot as well – so much fun and so many great photos!
