A perfect Dominican Republic destination wedding through the eyes of Christine!

When Surej and I got married we were approaching six years together; it was a day that we’d both been waiting for years to happen, but I don’t think that either of us would have predicted that we’d be getting married on a beach in the Caribbean.  Having a destination wedding was one of the best choices we could have made as it simplified the planning process and allowed us to relax and enjoy our wedding as much as possible without becoming overwhelmed, especially considering we had an engagement that was less than six months long!

I had my dress within a few weeks of our engagement – a gorgeous fit and flare by Paloma Blanca – and not at all the lacy dress that I had always envisioned myself wearing.  The decision making process throughout the wedding planning was done fairly quickly as I already knew in my head what I wanted and it was just a matter of making it happen.  Having our reception right on the sand gave our wedding the true beach feel that we wanted it to have, although, a 15-minute torrential downpour in the middle of Surej’s speech forced us inside temporarily, but luckily the storm blew over.  Overall, we considered our wedding to be a wonderful success, and Michelle did an incredible job of capturing that for us.
